Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
See that phone? Right there, yes that’s the one, the one I want. Isn’t it pretty? It’s all the rage and it’s got so many cool features and things about it that just makes it so appealing. I can’t say no, I can’t and I don’t want to. So why don’t I own one? Well, let me tell you.
I have been on the lookout for a new phone for a while now and I want one that’ll serve me as an mp3 player as well since I don’t have one of those at the moment. And I found this, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. It seemed perfect and with a contract from O2 it would only be £15 a month. I’d get 100 free minutes and unlimited texts to any network. Sounds pretty sweet, doesn’t it? Well that’s what I thought at least, so I went to O2 and told them what I wanted, we were about to finish the transaction, but then! Then, they tell me that they want a £200 deposit because I’m not a UK citizen. So I try ordering online. They now want a £100 deposit that would be refunded after 3 months because they can’t “verify my address”. Fuck that, thought I and went to a 3rd party retailer, thinking I’d have better luck there. I was wrong. O2 stopped that transaction as well in the end. Now they wouldn’t let me sign up for a contract at all. I wasn’t even offered to pay a deposit. Apparently O2 are rejecting 90% of new customers that wants to sign up to a contract. I suppose they have a lot of people owing them money already.
So I thought, screw it! and decided to leave it for now. In the end I think it would be more beneficial if I saved up and bought the phone and got a pay-as-you-go sim. I’d end up paying less and I’d have more control over my phone bill. Or I could just stick with the phone I have and get a nice mp3-player instead. I really miss having one, so I’ll have to come up with some sort of solution soon.
So I haven’t written anything for almost a month now. I was blogging quite intensly for a while there, so maybe I needed a break. I’ve picked up Twitter again, and I’m quite enjoying it. Not as much pressure to write substantial and elaborate things. It’s rather a challenge to keep it short and simple, especially for someone like me that loves to just spew words all over the screen, never mind if they mean anything or not.
I’ve not been doing that much since I last wrote… I was about to say, but that’s not true! I forget how long it’s been since I wrote. Me and kev went to Sweden at the end of January, to celebrate his belated birthday and to see my parents and friends. Family really. ^^ And we had a fantastic time! Just splendid, every bit of it.
And then just last weekend we had Valentine’s day. Kev took me out for dinner and bought me chocolate and then we went hom and drank fizzy wine, ate the chocolate and had a great time. And on Saturday we’re going ice skating! I’m looking forward to it so much! I haven’t stood on a pair of skates for at least 8 years, probably more, so it’ll be interesting to say the least.
But to the point, I’ve been tagged by Dade and I need to tell you 7 things about me that you don’t know, so here we go.
1. I’m a worrier – People have told me that I’m actively looking for things to worry about and I think it might be true. If, for once, I don’t have anything to worry about I make damn sure I find one; like the neighbour’s dog, or my holidays, my phone, or why not something that’s completely ridiculous to worry about, like an item in a video game.
2. I’ll try any food at least once – Pretty much what it says. I’m not picky and I like to try new things. I’ll try anything once and if I don’t like it I won’t eat it again. I’d like to think that I’d try insect-y foods, but I’m really not sure. Let’s say I would till proven otherwise.
3. I like horror movies – but I find them insanely scary. I love watching them and being scared, but I will get scared to the point where I’m so close to turning the TV off. I couldn’t watch one alone, I need someone to hold on to so I won’t crawl out of my own skin.
4. I’m scared of applying to translation jobs – It’s what i’m trained to do, but I’m afraid that I won’t be good enough.
5. Ventriloquist’s dummies scare me - Almost as much as clowns. Why do they have to be so creepy. I’m not talking Jeff Dunham and peanut here. I’m talking proper ones, you know the ones that look like children that look like grownups. And the mouth is scary! Why?!?! I’m convinced they’re really alive when nobody’s looking. And again, not like the toys that come alive and dance in children’s movies, nono. Not like that at all…
6. I love words – I really do. I could fill a page with just words no problem. I prefer handwriting, but typing works as well. Tag clouds fascinates me. All the words. They just look very appealing. In fact, I think I shall add one ot my blog when I’m finished writing this.
7. I’m pretentious - Obviously, this is something that I don’t like to admit, but I’ve realised that I am. When it comes to books, movies and music, I’m pretentious. Maybe not so much anymore because I don’t have time, but with all the above I’ve more than once read, watched or listened to something just because it’s considered cult or intellectual. Maybe everyone does this, but I’d like to be someone who doesn’t care about all that. In many cases though, I’ve found that I really like the thing that I bought just because. Does that still make me pretentious?
And that’s me done confessing. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading it because i’ve enjoyed writing it. A good comeback to blogging I think.
Baaah, I can’t be arsed to blog. And yet I’m doing it. I feel I need to tell people that I’ve been to IKEA and that I’m now the proud owner of a nice desk and a wee nightstand. And it’s only 3 days till me and Kev are going to Sweden and I’m so excited! :D
And I think that’s all. I really don’t want to write anymore.
I’ll be back when I feel like it. Hopefully soon.
Bye
